Social activity

The NGO Outdoor Learning in Ukraine was created in 2018, aiming to promote outdoor education in Ukraine. However, its peak activity occurred in 2022, coinciding with the beginning of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. During this time, society faced a significant challenge related to the psychoemotional recovery, particularly for children. The organization directed its efforts towards this challenge. Since 2022, we have successfully organized outdoor activities in nature for thousands of children affected by the war.

Our activities align with the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Good health and well-being

We have repeatedly witnessed how nature helps children cope with stress, including that caused by war. Research also confirms that active outdoor recreation positively impacts the psychoemotional state. At the same time, physical activities contribute to the harmonious development of children of all ages.

  • Quality education

The PISA-2018 research revealed that Ukraine has certain issues with classroom discipline. Effective learning is only possible in a favorable classroom environment with students' focus on the educational process. During informal outdoor activities, such necessary trust between the teacher and among the students is established.

  • Gender equality

Active outdoor recreation in nature is not gender-specific. Everyone who is willing can participate. Our male and female instructors help children express themselves without biases. We are indifferent to stereotypes regarding non-girly sports or emotions forbidden for boys.
